المستخلص: سعت الدراسة للتعرف على واقع العنف ضد المرأة في المجتمع الأردني, وذلك من خلال اتباع المنهجية الكيفية وباستخدام المقابلات المعمقة وتحليل الوثائق. وكشفت الدراسة عن الأسباب الرئيسية لظاهرة العنف ضد المرأة والتي كان أهمها عدم توفر جو من الحوار والنقاش داخل بناء الأسرة, كما ويعتبر حب الرجل للسيطرة ونظرته الدونية للمرأة سبباً آخر. وأظهرت الدراسة أن أهم أشكال العنف ضد المرأة في المجتمع الأردني تمثلت في العنف اللفظي وهو الأكثر انتشاراً بين ضحايا العنف, وتلاه العنف الجسدي أو البدني. وقد كان للعنف آثاراً مختلفة منها النفسية, والجسدية, والاجتماعية والاقتصادية.
وفيما يتعلق بالأسباب التي تدفع المرأة في المجتمع الأردني للبقاء أسيرة علاقة عنيفة فقد وجد أن أهم هذه الأسباب رغبة المرأة في التأكيد على عدم الرضوخ والانكسار أمام الزوج. وخرجت الدراسة بعدة طرق يمكن من خلالها محاولة الحد من ظاهرة العنف ضد المرأة في مجتمعنا الأردني وكان من أهمها اتباع أساليب توعوية للمقبلين على الزواج, وعمل النشرات وتسخير الفن بأشكاله المختلفة لذلك.


The study aimed to gain familiarity with the reality of violence against women within the Jordanian society. That was by following the qualitative methodology and the utilization of in-depth interviews and document analysis. The study revealed the main causes of the phenomenon of violence against the woman. The most significant of which was the lack of absence of the existence of an atmosphere of dialogue and discussion within the family structure. Similarly, man’s love of being in a position of dominance and his view that the woman is inferior, represents another cause. The study showed that the most significant forms of violence against the woman within Jordanian society is manifested in the verbal violence and this is the most widespread amongst the victims of violence. This is followed by physical or bodily violence. This violence can also have a number of different effects which include those which are psychological, physical, social and economic.
In relation to the reasons which push the woman, within the Jordanian society, to remain a prisoner to a violent relationship, then it was found that the most significant of these reasons was the woman’s wish to affirm that she does not bow or break down before the husband. The study came up with a number of ways, through which it is possible to attempt to put a halt to the phenomenon of violence against women within our Jordanian society and from amongst the most significant of these were to follow styles of bringing awareness to those looking to get married, using leafleting and the use of art in its different forms, for that purpose.
