المستخلص: The present study aimed at suggesting a framework, for the EFL test specifications in light of the EFL Egyptian national standards. It attempted to seek answers to five questions: What are the current test specifications for the preparatory stage? To what extent do the current test specifications for the preparatory stage cover the operations in the prescribed textbooks for the preparatory stage? To what extend are the current test specifications for the preparatory stage aligned with the EFL Egyptian National Content Standards? What is the suggested test specifications framew'ork for the preparatory stage in light of the EFL Egyptian National Content Standards? To what extend are exam setters satisfied with the suggested test specifications for the preparatory stage? A pre-post supervisors’ survey was designed and used in order to investigate supervisors’ opinions towards the current specifications and their opinions concerning the suggested framework. A meeting with a semi-structured focus group was held with the supervisors which resulted in identifying their problems with the current specifications. Then the prescribed textbook for the preparatory stage were analyzed in light of the current specifications. Results of the study provided a degree of satisfaction among the supervisors concerning the suggested framework. The study recommended conducting training courses to test developers on the suggested framework and replicate the framework in the primary and the secondary stages
