The aim of this study was to investigating how effective Science Fiction genre is in developing the future thinking, writing skills, and attitudes towards writing in English. The students targeted were first year secondary school students. The two main research questions were: (1) How effective was a suggested science fiction writing program in helping the students improve: (a) their future thinking skills, (b) the content, organization and language of their writing, and (d) their attitudes towards writing? (2) Was there a difference between male and female subjects of the treatment group in acquiring the future thinking and writing skills? The effectiveness of the program was investigated through means of comparison of: Pre- post future thinking test, Pre- post writing tests, and Pre- post attitude questionnaire. The results of the study showed that the writing program was successful on the whole, as it helped to bring about positive changes in students' future thinking skills, attitudes towards writing and writing habits. Another main result was that there was a statistically significant difference between male and female students of the experimental group on the future thinking test and on the writing test.
