However, the picture of Egyptian students attaining scientific literacy is still rather dim. In 2007, the rank of Egypt on the Trends in Math and Science Study (TIMSS) is near the bottom quartile. In addition, the Egyptian Center for Future Studies revealed that 70 per cent of 10,000 Egyptian secondary school students surveyed said uninspiring teaching meant they would not pursue further education in the sciences. (2010) Therefore, this research was carried out to gather information and to get a clearer picture on what happened regarding the teaching and learning Science and Math in schools. The research instrument was two sets of 20-item questionnaire that were designed to identify teachers' and students’ attitudes on teaching and learning Science and Math. The respondents consisted of 124 students and 31 Science and Math teachers from Mansoura Experimental Language School in Mansoura, Egypt. Research findings revealed that both students and teachers agreed to the importance of English Language in career opportunity. However, both felt that learning and teaching Science and Math was very difficult and demanding. This is due to the lack of ability in understanding of the subject matters and the instruction language. The result also showed that learning science is more difficult than learning Math. Finally, the findings revealed that there are challenges for the Science and Math teachers to work wisely in order to overcome students’ learning difficulties and to promote effective learning among students.
