المستخلص: Jerusalem has been a center of a long historical conflict in the Mediterranean region. Since the Israeli occupation in 1967, it has been the most major and significant cause to unite all Arabs and all Muslims. In spite of the international and Arab efforts to prevent Israel from annexing or Judaizing the city, the Israeli leaderships from both the left and right consider Jerusalem their eternal capital. In 1980, Israel declared it part of the state, careless of the UN Security Council resolutions calling it an “occupied territory.” The world deals with the status quo without explicit endorsement. The Arab peace agreements has not made any tangible political or legal achievement to maintain the Arab and Islamic identity of the city. The Hebrew State carried on with policies of Judaization and settlement in the heart and surroundings of the Holy Land. Israel has also extended the geographical borders and driven away both the Muslim and Christian Arab population. On the other hand, the Arab stance is so fragile in the negotiations and agreements on the city and the other occupied territories. The Arabs have even made it one of the final status files in settling or liquidating the Palestinian issue. Thus, one wonders about the political way out of the weak Palestinian and Arab stand in advocating the city as well as protecting the holy sites and their people from the very systematic Israeli aggression. The essay presents the features necessary for an action vision, such as the following: - promoting the boycott of Israel at the Arab and international levels and in all aspects - publicizing the Israeli practices and their dangers in all international conferences - supporting the Palestinian struggle in all its forms, such as stationing in Al-Aqsa Mosque to prevent settlers from breaking in, and - holding an official and public Arab, Islamic conference to support Jerusalem and the Palestinian issue and people, declaring practical resolutions, timely stands and straightforward demands from the international community. In conclusion, the problem of Jerusalem in the Arab and Islamic political action will keep existing, unless a shift takes place in the approach and policies of dealing with the Israeli occupation and the cause restores its status at the Arab, Islamic and international levels. On the other hand, if the overall struggle of the Muslim, Arab Palestinian people is ignored, the political action would be so weakened before the world. If such general thoughts are presented as a draft worksheet for a team made of Arab political parties and Palestinian factions, they can form a card of political and public pressure adopted by the Arab states and Palestinian Authority. Then, the political action may be able to protect Jerusalem and its holy sites and liberate them from the occupation.
