المستخلص: The topic sheds light on relationships between the two parts of the country from earliest time to ADI 821. Although there is no single direct evidence for the relationship during the earliest periods (B.C2700-500), so far few scattering faint historical signals courage us to talk about economic interests between the two parts. Sudanese goods were exported to Egypt at that time. Historical sources, particularly Greek and Roman writings discuss issues in the Meroitic social, economic, political and cultural history. Many authentic scholars strongly believe that good relationship between the people of the two regions was existed in the Meroitic period, putting in consideration the Meroitic impact on the culture and societies of the Sheluk and other Southern tribes of today. In the middle ages it seems that Alwa made good economic relations with the people of Upper Nile area and the south eastern frontiers. During the Islamic Sultanates of the Funj and Fur the relation became hostile, and the raids for slaves increased, especially from the North. Anyway one can’t summarize that relation only in the economic field, because cultural and social ties joined the two regions from earliest time onwards through migrations and mutual interests.
