520		\|b This study addresses the artistic features and the tools of creating poetic imagery with special reference to the poetry of Mohamed Elhassan Salim Hameed, focusing on his well known poem “Al-Dau Wa Jahjahat Altussab” which is considered a turning point in the colloquial Sudanese poetry. Hameed’s tools of creating poetic imagery are best reflected in the dramatic portrayal, the use of irony, exaggerated description, and relative obscurity produced by implied interpretation, symbols, philosophical interpretation of certain phenomena, and imagery reflecting social values.
