No one can deny the role of memoirs and biographies could play in clarifying and explaining the position and stands of the authors in many of the issues they discussed. This importance, however, dwindles- and may completely vanish- when they are used as historical documents. Memoirs of the national independence movement leaders in the Sudan, like their counterparts, suffered from many drawbacks which reduced their relevance and their historical value. However, this does not negate their role in filling some historical writing gaps because of the predominance of verbalism, and the lack or documentation in the Sudan. This paper, therefore, attempts to study, analyze and to criticize and to compare some of these biographies of the national independence movement leaders in Sudan and eventually comes out with an invitation to the Sudanese history writers to evaluate it and to contribute, methodologically, in the study of these Sudanese personalities and their economic, social and political role and to correlate what is subjective to what is objective. \
