It has no longer been acceptable for news agencies amid current great transformations in the World due to information, telecommunication and electronic revolution to rely on network of correspondents reporting news stories to agency headquarters then, the news items are re-transmitted to contributors via traditional means. The tickers fax and phone contact no longer become suitable means for transmission of information. Since 1970s, Sudan News Agency as the most important information media in Sudan has attached transferring the community to modern technology great concern because of its connection with developed means of communication and international news agencies. This research, is looking into the extent Sudan News Agency used the available technologies in the field of communications and its contribution to global flow of news and reciprocal impacts. Theoretically, the research tackles the progress and developments of the local and international news agencies in techniques of transmission, the developments of technology of computers, computer's networks and satellite mean of communication as well as the communication infrastructure in Sudan, the flow of news to Sudan and transmission and reception of news system in Sudan News Agency as well as its availability to modern technological development And practically, the research analyzed the data and tables of news transmitted and received in averages via the different means and languages during the period of study January-December 2002. It concluded that despite the relative development of the Agency in receiving news services provided by the international news agencies, its contribution in the international flow of news is poor due to its traditional means of transmission to the world and dependence on the internet in news transmission. The research recommends that the Agency is to connect with a satellite linking the Agency with the outside world and the various states of Sudan, besides, stopping the operation of wireless transmission at Soba station, increasing staff of editors in different departments and the time of transmission as well as raising the funding of the Agency.
