|a وحيد القرن في الحديقة هي حكاية رمزية عصرية للكاتب جيمس ثربر (1894-1961) والذي يعد من أكثر الكتاب الأمريكيين إبداعا في مجال الكتابة الفكاهية يهدف البحث إلى إبراز العلاقة بين رؤية الكاتب الجادة للإنسانية وكتاباته الفكاهية، وانعكاس هذه الرؤية على كل من المضمون والتناول الأدبي في حكاية "وحيد القرن". كذلك يتعرض البحث للأساليب التقنية والفنية التي يوظفها الكاتب لتجسيد رؤيته الإنسانية والفنية معا. ونعني بذلك استخدامه لمكونات السرد الكرنفالي من الخرق المستمر للأطر التقليدية، ومبدأ قلب ما هو مألوف رأسا على عقب، وتبادليه الأدوار فيما يتعلق برسم الشخصيات وكذلك الإدراك الواعي للقارئ بقدرة النص على التغير والتحول. بالإضافة إلى ذلك يتناول البحث توظيف الكاتب للتعارض الكوميدي كمحور أساسي لتفعيل الفكاهة في حكاية "وحيد القرن في الحديقة".
|b The Unicorn in the Garden in modem fable written by James Thurber (1894 - 1961) renowned as America's most original and humorous writer. The present paper sets out to explore the relationship between Thurber's serious view of humanity and his humour, and how that view informs both his choice of subject and literary approach in The Unicorn. The paper also analyzes how Thurber's fable is processed, how the salient components of carnivaleaque narratives, namely the persistent breaking and violation of traditional frames of reference, the upside down principle and role reversal, and the occupation with the process of replace ability, together with Thurber's employment of comic incongruity as the locus of his complex humour in The Unicorn, functionally contribute to the intensity of the reader's humour response and, consequently, to the text's realization of its maximum humorous effect.
