|b introduction: In the late decade of the Twentieth century interest was increased in the effectiveness of information means in different societies .From this point modern researches and studies concerned with cognitive effects by which information means leave for the audiences. Huge and sequence developments in communication technology and information revolution have extreme effects on these means for all what this development raises of challenges and ambitions. Journal image is considered one of the fundamental materials of the journal or the magazine or other print communicative methods which entered the interest space in terms of studies that dealt with the processes of understanding and remembering journal news and the information in which these news involve . From this point, this study seeks to recognize the effect of journal image variables on the processes of paying attention and readers memory for the content presented by the newspaper. Problem of the study: The present research problem can be crystallized in the main question: what is the role in which the image plays in supporting the process of memory and the effect of the image variables. Importance of the study: Recognizing the in which journal image plays in supporting news content and the effect of the image variables on the processes of paying attention and memory . It also tries to fill the shortage in studies that investigate the cognitive effect of the image and it’s variables. Questions of the study: - What are the best image forms that help in paying attention? - What are types of images that readers prefer? - What are the best image forms that help in memory? - What are the best locations of images that help in paying attention? Type of the study: This study is classified in the frame of descriptive researches that rely on sample survey in collecting data? Sample of the study: A sample of (400) inhabitants at Minia governorate was drawn from journal readers . The sample was drawn by simple random method. Tools of data collection: The present study uses the questionnaire form as a device for collecting data from respondents where it measures attitudes, beliefs and information of the research sample. Results of the study: The present study achieved some results among which are: - The best roles in which journal image performs that it facilitates the process of reading news and helps to guess the news content before reading it. - The effect of the image form on remembering the content and the square form is the most attractive one for paying attention and most helpful in remembering the content. - The effect of image location in remembering the content and that putting the image over the title is the most attractive location for paying attention and that putting the image beside the subject is the most helpful location in memory. - The effect of the image type in remembering the content and that the objective image (relevant) is the most helpful types in remembering the content.
