إن ظاهرة الوقف والابتداء لا يجوز أن تبحث بمعزل عن اللغة وضوابط اللغة؛ لذا فإن ضوابط الوقف والشروع والابتداء في القرآن الكريم ترتبط إلى حد بعيد وعميق بعلوم اللغة العربية؛ لأن خواص الوقف توحي إلى دلالات معينة وكذلك أحوال الشروع والابتداء توحي إلى دلالات أخرى، فظاهرة الوقف لا تتوقف على الانقطاع وكتم الصوت، وإنما يمتد هذا الأمر إلى دلالة معينة تكون ناجمة عن تمام المعنى، أو تكون ناجمة عن حاجة ماسة اضطرارية تلزم القارئ بالوقف، وكذلك الشروع أو الابتداء يفيد معنى جديدا جزئيا يقتصر في دلالته على عناصر لغوية مكونة للتركيب الجديد. وقد ناقش الباحث قضية الوقف والابتداء من جوانب لغوية، وعلل في بحثه العلاقة التي تربط ظواهر الوقف والابتداء بظواهر اللغة منها النحو والدلالة والصوت؛ لما في ذلك من تعليل للنبر الصوتي والوقف الواجب، والشروع والوصل بناء على تواصل دلالي بين عناصر النص القرآني، وأشار الباحث إلى أهمية الدراسات اللغوية التي تناولت ظواهر في علم التجويد وبالذات الوقف والابتداء والفصل والوصل. وتابع الباحث قضية النحو والإعراب، وتبين أن مخالفة مبدأ الوقف أو الابتداء يؤدي إلى تنوع في الإعراب، واختلاف في الدلالات، بيد أن ظاهرة الاختلاف في القراءات واردة ولكن هذا الاختلاف لا يخرج عن الحكم الشرعي للنص القرآني، ومن جهة أخرى خاطب القرآن العرب بلهجاتهم وهذه اللهجات تختلف من لهجة إلى أخرى، فمن بلاغة القرآن أنه خاطبه على اختلاف اللهجات، ووفق بين هذه اللهجات من خلال السرد القرآني على أن تحمل حكما شرعيا أراده المشرع. ويرى الباحث أن هناك تداخلا بين العلوم اللغوية، فلا يجوز الفصل بين هذه العلوم خاصة المعالجات القرآنية في الوقف والابتداء، فعلم النحو لا يجوز فصله عن الدلالات والمعاني؛ لأن المعنى جزء الإعراب، وكذلك علم الصوت الذي يضم الكثير من خواص الوقف له ارتباط وثيق بعلم الوقف والابتداء، وقد علل الباحث ظواهر تغير المعنى والتنوع الإعرابي، مشيرا إلى التنوع في القراءات
