This study addresses the phenomenon of irregular migration, which has become a pressing national issue affecting Egyptian national security. The study begins by defining irregular migration, its history, causes, methods, mechanisms, and smuggling routes. It also reviews the concept of irregular migration in foreign legal literature and its evolution to become linked to the concept of human security. The study clarifies that irregular migration is a global phenomenon, increasing in both developed and developing countries. It examines the economic, social, and psychological reasons driving youth to irregular migration, such as poverty, unemployment, deteriorating economic conditions, lack of job opportunities, social frustration, the dream of quick wealth, and admiration for Western civilization. The study also discusses Egyptian and international legislation related to irregular migration, highlighting the effectiveness of these legislations in confronting the phenomenon. The study concludes by presenting recommendations to address this phenomenon, including the necessity of providing job opportunities for youth, developing the economies of sending countries, raising awareness about the dangers of irregular migration, and intensifying international cooperation to combat this phenomenon.
