تعد الثورة المعلوماتية واحدة من أكبر المستجدات في عصر المعلومات والتي أدت إلى ظهور أحداث ومظاهر للمجتمع تختلف عما سبقها تماما. ويقصد بالحكومات الالكترونية واستخدام تكنولوجيات المعلومات والاتصالات وخصوصا الانترنت للوصول على حكومات أفضل، بينما يقصد بالأداء في المنظمات العامة مدى القيام المنظمة بتنفيذ الأهداف أو قدرتها على تحويل مدخلات المنظمة إلى هدد من المنتجات بمواصفات محددة وبأقل التكاليف. ولقد تم عرض مجموعة من الموضوعات في هذا المخلص أهمها الحكومة الالكترونية، وقياس الأداء وتطويره في المنظمات العامة في مصر، علاوة على أهم مشكلات قياس الأداء، مع عرض لمجموعة من النتائج والتوصيات التي تساهم في زيادة مستويات الأداء.
