المستخلص: This research is entitled ‘Arabic and Indonesian Modality: AContrastive Analysis’. The purposes of this research are todescribe and to compare Arabic and Indonesianmodality based on form. To obtain valid analysis result, the writer conducted three steps. Firstly, data collecting method conducted with the correct reading and technique note method. Secondly, the contrastive method with the descriptive and comparative technique applied to analyze the data. The theories usedin this research are eclectics that are taking ideas from several linguistic theories and combining them into a certain point of view. Thirdly, the formal and informal method using the technique of formulation and clarification through ordinary words employed to present the data analysis result. The results of this research show that the forms of Arabicmodality are (1) Modal Auxiliaries (MA): kada and yakadu (2) Finite Verbs of Modality(FVM): yastatȉcu and yajűzu. (3) Lexical Modals (LM).And the structure ofmodality in Indonesian arelexical modals (LM), phrase modals (PM), and, clause modals (CM).
