المستخلص: the MESC organized a festivity on the 24th anniversary on march 10, 2015, containing a number of activities. it was started by an opening speech by director general Mr. Jawad Al-Hamad, followed by a talk by head of MESC’s board of trustees Odeh Al-Jayyousi. there was also a lecture by vice secretary-general of the Iraqi Islamic party Mr. Baha’uddin Al-Naqshabandi titled “Iraq crisis: is escalation vs. international coalition (present and future horizons). it was joined by a large number of national and diplomatic figures, representatives of parties, academics and many journalists. in the opening speech, Mr. Al-Hamad welcomed the participants, noting that the MESC is about to mark its silver jubilee next year 2016. it has made several achievements, which are highly appreciated by many Jordanian and Arab policiticians, experts and academics. He concluded by calling the Jordanian and Arab youth to enjoy self-confidence and faith in their countries and the Arab nation and its mission. they ought to depend on their own efforts as well and build on the experience of the others who outshine us in the race of civilization. In his turn, Dr Al-Jayyousi commended the performance of the MESC in 2014, pointing out that it is moving steadily to accomplish the targets set for the period 2012-2015 within its general strategy. Dr Al-Naqshabandi’s lecture attributed the current Iraqi crises to the war with Iran, which took place between 1980 and 1988. Since that time the country has been shifting from a dilemma to another, until this complicated one. Now, the ISIS is controlling one-third of the country in the governorates of Neinawa, Kerkuk, Salahuddin, Al-Anbar and Diala upon the fall of the official army there. As for the international alliance against the group, he explained that the US was employing it to consolidate its own influence in the region. According to Al-Naqshabandi, the emergence of the ISIS has many internal, regional and international reasons. He finally wondered about the solutions necessary to counter the ISIS. Such wars breaking out between a state and a strongly coherent organization cannot be terminated only by military operations. He called for the re-appreciation of moderate political Islam movements. That should be a major lever in the battle against the ISIS, which is not only a military power, but also a solid thought in the minds of enthusiastic revolutionary youth who are frustrated by the situation in the region and the world.
