The Global Economic Forum - or what was known as the European Management forum - was launched in December 1971, as a non-profit organization under the umbrella of Europe. Its essence and recommendations do not take any decisions, and its discussions are not binding to any party, whether public, private or civil society body. The significance of the event makes Davos an annual mecca for over 2,500 participants from more than 100 countries. The developing nations tend to view its outcomes in the eyes of waiting and hope. Jordan has been the first Middle Eastern leg chosen by the organizers for the regional meeting a number of times. Thus, Jordanian economists called for utilizing the occasion to attract large-scale investments. In conclusion, the kingdom has benefited from Davos, but not to the desired level. For better results, the Jordanian participation needs to be more deeply prepared, with earlier coordination between national participant parties to employ the same discourse under clear national priorities.
