يحاول هذا البحث أن يقدم تحليلاً منهجياً ودراسة نقدية لمعالجة المعنى في التراث النقدي العربي من خلال تناول مفهوم المعنى وعلاقته بالمبدع والمتلقي على حد سواء، ويدرس طبيعة الآراء والمواقف النقدية التي تردد فيها هذا المصطلح في مباحث أبز النقاد القدماء، موضحاً الفرق بين مفهومين للمعنى: المفهوم العقلي العام والمفهوم الفني الخاص. كما عرض البحث العلاقة القائمة بين المعنى والمتلقي من حيث اتساع المعنى وتعدد صوره، والوقوف على كيفية تأويله وتفسيره. وناقش البحث المعنى في سياق الصورة محاولاً الكشف عن علاقة المعنى بالصورة الذهنية والحسية، وبين كيف أن المعنى لا تتجسد فكرته وتتضح دلالته إلا من خلال الصورة الفنية والصياغة التعبيرية.
This research is an attempt to conduct a systematic analysis and a critical study to tackle the meaning in the Arabic heritage of criticism, by means of discussing the conception of meaning and its relation to both the Innovator (writer) and the receptive (reader). Also it studies the nature of critical ideas and positions in which this terminology is always repeated in researches of the most famous old master critics. And at the same time explaining the difference between two conceptions of meaning: general intellectual conception and special Artistic conception. Also the research presents the relation between the meaning and the receptive, specially in the extension of meaning, its multi images, how to explain it and how the receptive can utilize the meaning by means of reproducing and innovation. The research discusses the Meaning in the image sequence trying to clarify that meaning by intellectual and sensual image is related to the fact that meaning's idea and indication do not become clear except through artistic image and composing mode.
