المستخلص: استهدفت الدراسة تناول نشأة التعليم الحديث في عهد حاكم البحرين الشيخ عيسى بن علي آل خليفة. جاءت الدراسة في تمهيد وعدة محاور. أما التمهيد فأشارت فيه إلى أن النظر في تاريخ نشأة التعليم النظامي الحديث في البحرين يندرج في إطار الاهتمام بالعوامل في تحول البلدان العربية في طور الدول التقليدية إلى أطوار الدولة الحديثة وفي تغير الفكر الإسلامي من طور المحافظة على القديم إلى طور البحث عن التجديد. كما أشارت إلى أهمية التعليم وإلى التعليم على النمط الغربي في البحرين. وأما المحاور فتناولت جذور الحركة التعليمية في البحرين، وكيفية نشأة التعليم وتطوره إبان حكم الشيخ عيسى بن علي آل خليفة 1869م-1932م، والأطر العامة والخاصة والعوامل الدولية والعربية التي حفّت بنشأة التعليم الحديث في البحرين، والعوامل المساعدة في نشأة التعليم الحديث في البحرين، ودور حاكم البحرين الشيخ عيسى بن علي آل خليفة في نشأة التعليم الحديث في البحرين، ورواد حركة العلم والتعليم في البحرين، وانطلاق التعليم النظامي الحديث في البحرين: مدرسة الهداية الخليفية أنموذجا، وتأسيس التعليم الحديث للبنات في البحرين. واختتمت الدراسة بالتوضيح أنها وقفت على المنعطف الحاسم الذي شهده التعليم في عهد حاكم البحرين الشيخ عيسى بن علي آل خليفة حيث حدثت في هذه المرحلة الزمنية طفرة نوعية أدت إلى الانتقال من التعليم التقليدي إلى التعليم الحديث مما أدى إلى نتائج كبيرة انعكست إيجابيا على المجتمع البحريني، وأن من أهم العبر المستخلصة من هذه الدراسة الدور المحوري الذي قامت به السلطة السياسية عندما التقت رغبتها مع رغبة شعبها مما أدى لتذليل جميع الصعوبات. وإلى جانب ذلك فمن الضروري عند استقراء تاريخ نشأة التعليم الحديث في البحرين أن نستشف البعد الوطني لهذا الحدث، فهو مثل خطوة من خطوات السير في اتجاه تحقيق الشخصية الوطنية البحرينية المتميزة بحضارتها العربية الإسلامية من جهة وبانفتاحها على الثقافة الحديثة من جهة أخرى.

The study focused on the emergence of the modern education under the reign of the ruler of Bahrain Al-Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa. The study came in a preface and several axes. The preface pointed out that the consideration of the history of the emergence of the modern formal education in Bahrain is part of the concern of the factors in the transformation of the Arab countries in the phase of the traditional countries to the stages of the modern state and the change of the Islamic thought from the stage of preserving the old to the search for the renewal. It also noted the importance of education and the Western-style education in Bahrain. The themes tackled the roots of the educational movement in Bahrain, the way in which education was established and developed during the reign of Al-Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa in 1869 AD -1932 AD, the general and private frameworks and the international and Arab factors that characterized the emergence of the modern education in Bahrain, the factors that helped the emergence of the modern education in Bahrain, the role of the ruler of Bahrain Al-Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa in the emergence of the modern education in Bahrain, and pioneers of the movement of science and education in Bahrain, and the launch of the modern formal education in Bahrain: Al-Hidaya Al-Khalifiya school model and the establishment of the modern education for girls in Bahrain. The study concluded by highlighting that it stood at the critical juncture which was witnessed by the education under the reign of the ruler of Bahrain, Al-Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa where at this time stage a qualitative breakthrough led to the transition from the traditional education to the modern education resulting in great results reflected positively on the Bahraini society, and one of the most important lessons of this study is the pivotal role which was played by the political authority when it met its desire with the desire of its people which led to overcoming all difficulties. In addition, it is necessary to examine the history of the emergence of the modern education in Bahrain to discover the national dimension of this event as it is like a step in the direction of achieving the Bahraini national character distinguished by its Arab Islamic civilization on the one hand and openness to the modern culture on the other.
