عجزت الأحزاب الشيوعية في الوطن العربي عن تلبية طموحات الشعب العربي فبقيت تعاني الغربة عن واقع المجتمع، لما لها من امتدادات خارج إطار تطلعات الشعب، فقد عرفت الأحزاب الشيوعية في الوطن العربي آنذاك بارتباطها في سياسات خارجية على رأسها سياسة الاتحاد السوفيتي. ويمكننا القول أن الحزب الشيوعي الجزائري كان من الأحزاب التي ارتكز على قاعدة فكرية معروفة، شأنه شأن الأحزاب الشيوعية العمالية الأخرى التي تؤمن بالماركسية. لم يستطع الحزب الشيوعي الجزائري أن يلعب دورا يستحق الذكر، لأن الإدارة الشيوعية التي هي أداة مكتبية لا صلة لها بالشعب لذا فهي لم تكن قادرة على تحليل الثورة والاستقلال تحليلا صحيحا. لقد اضمحل دور الحزب بصفته منظمة جدية وذلك لانتمائه للحزب الشيوعي الفرنسي الذي ظل إلى ما بعد الاستقلال عام 1962 الأمر الذي أدى إلى تضعضع عقائدهم القومية الجزائرية، فأظهرت ما فيهم من تناقض وانتهازية أمام المقاومة المسلحة وأمام الحكومة الوطنية المستقلة. على أننا نسجل بعض الأعمال الفردية الصادرة عن بعض الشيوعيين الذين انضموا إلى صفوف جبهة التحرير وجيش التحرير. حاول الحزب الشيوعي الجزائري بعد الاستقلال أن يستثمر هذه المواقف الفردية لصالحه ليخفي عزلته التامة وتغيبه عن الجهاد الذي قامت به الثورة الجزائرية. فالحزب الشيوعي الجزائري لم يدخل مباشرة في إطار الحركة الوطنية الجزائرية. الحزب لم يعرف كيف يقدر الواقعة القومية حق قدرها. وعليه فإن الحزب الشيوعي الجزائري في موقفه هذا أثبت على فشل الأحزاب الشيوعية ولاسيما في البلدان العربية.
