تناول هذا البحث ظاهرة التهكم في فنون السرد العراقي (القصة والرواية)، على أن التهكم ليس مجرد أسلوب ساخر للتنكيل بالآخر أو مجرد صياغات لغوية متناقضة أو كنايات تعبيرية يكون اللفظ فيها مخالفا للدلالة، بل هو أسلوب وآليات فنية ومضامين ودلالات، وقد وجدنا بأنه ظاهرة تحتل المساحة الأوسع في عموم الخطابات الثقافية، الفكرية والأدبية والفنية، ذلك أن الأساطير والخرافات والحكايات الفلكلورية والقصص والروايات قد بنيت في الغالب على علاقات تهكمية للمزاوجة بين الواقع والخيال، فإن أسلوب التهكم قبل أن يكون أسلوبا بلاغيا يمكن تلمس أنماطه في الشعر أو النصوص القرآنية، هو ظاهرة بنيوية في النصوص الأسطورية والخرافات، وقد حاولنا في هذا البحث استظهار الأسس الفنية لتلك الظاهرة من خلال التطبيق النقدي على أنموذجين من السرد العراق المعاصر، هما: (الأسلاف في مكان ما) مجموعة قصصية لسعد هادي، ورواية (بابا سارتر) لعلي بدر، فضلا عن الإشارة للعديد من النماذج المبنية على مرتكزات التهكم.
