المستخلص: Arabs and Muslims always took care of books in terms of its contents, writers and the mechanism of making book. Some writers and compilers tended to monitor the literary and scientific production and their numbers. And from very early era separate books have been compiled for this specific purpose, the most famous of which is the book known as ‘Al-Fehrist’ by. Mohammad bin Ishaque al-Nadeem (D 380 AH). In this book he mentioned all the science and knowledge in which books have been written till his time, giving detail of the all Arabic books or those transferred from other languages such as Greek and Syriac. The number of books mentioned in ‘Al-Fehrist’ reaches to about eight thousand three hundred books. Hence the idea of this research came to correct attribution of some of the manuscripts to their actual writers.
