تحددت مشكلة الدراسة في مناقشة وتحليل الأبعاد الاجتماعية لظاهرة العنف ضد المرأة في المجتمع السعودي، حيث تشهد الأسرة السعودية الكثير من مظاهر العنف ضد المرأة، سواء كان عنفا رمزيا أو ماديا مباشرا. وعلى الرغم مما تعكسه الإحصاءات والتقارير من تنامي لظاهرة العنف ضد المرأة، فإن هذه النسب المعلنة، كما يرى كثير من الباحثين، لا تشكل إلا جزءا ضئيلا جدا مما يحدث في الواقع. وترتبط ظاهرة العنف ضد المرأة في المجتمع السعودي بالعادات والتقاليد المتوارثة التي تفرق إلى حد كبير بين الرجل والمرأة، وعادة ما تضع المرأة في درجة أدنى. ومن ثم تكون المرأة هدفا مباشرا لتسلط الرجل أو هدفا غير مباشر، من خلال ممارساته العنف ضدها بشقيه المادي والرمزي، انتقاما من أشياء أخرى لا علاقة لها بالمرأة موضوع العنف. ووفقا لهذا هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى التعرف على الأبعاد الاجتماعي لظاهرة العنف ضد المرأة في الأسرة السعودية من خلال دراسة ميدانية على عينة من الإناث بمدينة جدة. وتنتمي هذه الدراسة إلى الدراسات الوصفية بالاعتماد على طريقة المسح الاجتماعي بالعينة. وقد اعتمدنا في جمع البيانات على تطبيق استبانة البحث على عينة حجمها (375) مفردة من الإناث، وكذلك على تنظيم عدد من جماعات النقاش. ومن أهم النتائج التي توصلت إليها الدراسة أن الغالبية العظمى من المبحوثات تعرضن لأشكال العنف المختلفة خاصة العنف اللفظي داخل نطاق الأسرة سواء من قبل الأب أو الزوج أو الأخ، وأيضا تعرضت غالبية المبحوثات للعنف بدون وجود مبرر أو سبب لهذا العنف، ووجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين الدخل الشهري للأسرة والتنشئة الاجتماعية المبنية على التفرقة في المعاملة بين الذكور والإناث، وأن الأسباب الاجتماعية تأتي في مقدمة الأسباب التي تدفع المعنف لممارسة العنف نظرا لارتباط العنف، بالموروث الثقافي بشكل كبير.

According to this, study aims to identify the social dimensions of the phenomenon of violence against women in the Saudi Arabia family Through a field study on a sample of females in Jeddah. This study belongs to descriptive studies based on social survey sample, and we have adopted in the collection of data on the application of questionnaire to identify the sample size (375) Single female, As well as the organization of a number of discussion groups. Among the most important findings of the study that the majority of respondents had experienced different forms of violence especially verbal violence within the family, whether by the father, husband or brother, and was the majority of respondents to the violence without justification or convincing reason for this violence, and the presence of statistically significant differences between the monthly income of the family and socialization based on the difference in treatment between males and females, and social causes in the forefront of the reasons why victims of violence for violence due to link violence largely cultural heritage.
