This paper investigates the internal structure of morphological causative constructions (MCCs) in Standard Arabic (SA) in the light of two linguistic theories: Government and Binding theory (GB) and Lexical functional Grammar (LFG). Based on Larson's (1988) proposal of VP-shell, this study argues that MCC in SA has a complex internal structure which is parallel in some respects to the double object construction (DOC) in SA. Furthermore, it explores the distinction between structural Case and inherent Case, as proposed by Chomsky (1981, 1986). Accordingly, it assumes that the thematic object in MCC, like the direct object in DOC, is assigned inherent accusative Case. Therefore, this paper argues for a unified analysis for these two unrelated syntactic constructions. In doing so, this study attempts to compare two linguistic theories: GB, as a transformational approach and LFG, as non-transformational approach. It considers how MCC is examined in each theory and argues for the syntactic incorporation analysis, adopted by Baker (1988) and Li (1990) in GB against the lexical approach, adopted by Alsina (1992) in LFG.Introduction: \
