|f Bibliometric studies, or what is known as the study of numerical and qualitative trends of intellectual production, are indispensable scientific works for any branch of science. Bibliometric studies provide librarians, information specialists, researchers, and publishers with a kind of objective statistics away from personal whims and geographical judgments. Those statistics that were not taken into account before and that could complement the traditional aspects of bibliography and communication studies.\nThe study and analysis of reference citations are one of the important main branches of bibliometric studies. Reference citation studies are mainly concerned with periodicals as the main channels of communication for research. They also help to identify the evolution of research in the natural and social sciences, humanities, and all fields of knowledge and also contribute significantly to the identification of focal periodicals, focal authors in any scientific field. They can also in knowing the factors influencing intellectual production, as well as researchers' behaviors.\nThis study is concerned with the role of reference citations in identifying the most influential journals in the field of library and information science in the Arab world. The analysis of citations is the best and most reliable way to determine focal periodicals in a particular scientific discipline, regardless of the nature of this specialization, whether scientific or humanities and social sciences. Several indicators can be used to carry this, which are based mainly on the analysis of reference citations. We will apply three indicators in this study: Bradford-Zepf Distribution of focal periodicals in the specialty, the Hirsch H-index coefficient, and finally, the Obsolescence Measurements.\nThis abstract translated by Dar AlMandumah Inc. 2018

|a تعد الدراسات الببليومترية أو ما يعرف بدراسة الاتجاهات العددية والنوعية للإنتاج الفكري من الأعمال العلمية التي لا غنى عنها لأي فرع من فروع العلم، إذ تقدم الدراسات الببليومترية إلى كل من المكتبيين وأخصائيين المعلومات والباحثين والناشرين نوعاً من الإحصاءات الموضوعية البعيدة عن الأهواء الشخصية والأحكام الجغرافية، تلك الإحصاءات التي لم تكن تؤخذ في الاعتبار من قبل والتي يمكنها أن تكمل الجوانب التقليدية لدراسات الببليوجرافيا والاتصال. \nوتعتبر دراسة وتحليل الاستشهادات المرجعية أحد الفروع الرئيسة الهامة من فروع الدراسات الببليومترية، وتهتم دراسات الاستشهاد المرجعي بشكل أساسي بالدوريات كقنوات اتصال رئيسة للبحث، كما تساعد على التعرف على تطور البحث في العلوم الطبيعية والاجتماعية والإنسانيات وكافة مجالات المعرفة، أيضاً فهي تسهم بشكل كبير في تحديد الدوريات البؤرية، والمؤلفين البؤريين في أي مجال علمي، كما يمكن أن تسهم في معرفة العوامل المؤثرة في الإنتاج الفكري، وكذلك سلوكيات الباحثين. \nوتهتم الدراسة التي نحن بصددها بدور الاستشهادات المرجعية في تحديد الدوريات الأكثر تأثيراً في مجال علم المكتبات والمعلومات في العالم العربي، إذ يعد تحليل الاستشهادات هو أفضل الطرق وأكثرها ثقةً لتحديد الدوريات البؤرية في تخصص علمي معين أياً كانت طبيعة هذا التخصص سواء كان تخصصاً علمياً أو في العلوم الإنسانية والاجتماعية. وهناك العديد من المؤشرات التي يمكن استخدامها للقيام بذلك والتي تعتمد في الأساس على تحليل الاستشهادات المرجعية، وسوف نعمل على تطبيق ثلاثة مؤشرات منها في هذه الدراسة وهي توزيع برادفورد-زبف Bradford-Zepf Distribution للدوريات البؤرية في التخصص، ومعامل هيرش h-index، وأخيراً مقاييس التعطل Obsolescence Measures. \n
