In this article, we have spoken about two plays : La mère coupable ou l’autre Tartuffe by Beaumarchais , and Le Tartuffe by Molière. We have treated of the « intertextuality » between twoo plays. The authors have approached the hypocrisy topic (abordé le thème de l’hypocrite à deux époques différentes : Molière au XVIIe siècle et Beaumarchais un siècle plus tard. L’intertextualité étant le rapport qu’entretiennent deux ou plusieurs textes entre eux, peut également être la « réutilisation » ou « l’absorption »d’un même thème tout comme elle peut se faire dans la dissemblance. C’est ce que nous avons tenté de démontrer dans cette étude. En fin de compte, Beaumarchais s’est inspiré du thème de l’hypocrite mais s’est démarqué de son prédécesseur dans le rôle incarné par le personnage de Begearss vu que la mentalité et les valeurs du XVIIe siècle ne sont pas celles du XVIIIe In this article, we have spoken about two plays: The Guilty Mother or the Other Tartuffe by Beaumarchais, and Le Tartuffe by Molière.
