المستخلص: تمثل دراسة "بناء الأسطول الأموي" أهمية بالغة باعتباره يعد نموذجًا مبكرًا يظهر فيه مدى التطور الحضاري للأمة، حيث تبرز فيه قدرة الدولة الأموية على مواجهة التحديات أمام قدرتها على بناء الأسطول ضمن الإمكانات المتوفرة لديها، كذلك يعكس وعي الدولة تاليًا بضرورة تطوير عملية البناء بإنشاء مراكز تدريبية متخصصة تحت إشرافها منعًا للإهمال والتقصير.
ومع أن الدراسة قامت بمحاولة استقراء واسعة للمصادر التاريخية المعاصرة للدولة الأموية أو القريبة منها، إلا أن هناك ثلاث مجموعات من المصادر أضافت الكثير من الفائدة للدراسة، وهي: أوراق البردي ابتداء، بتفردها بالإشارة إلى المشاكل الملاحية والتنظيمات الإدارية البحرية والإجراءات المالية المعاصرة لمرحلة بناء الأسطول. كذلك الوثائق الفقهية وأهميتها في إمكانية الاطلاع والتعرف على عقود إنشاء المراكب لتوضيح مدى تطور صناعة السفن. ومن ثم الدراسات الأدبية وخاصة دواوين الشعر وتظهر أهميتها في التعرف على مهام السفن وأنواعها المستخدمة في الأسطول الأموي.

The study of "the construction of Umayyad Naval Fleet" is of great importance as it is an early model in which it shows the extent of the civilization development of the nation where it highlights the ability of the Umayyad State to meet the challenges to its ability to build a fleet within its capabilities. It also reflects the state's awareness of the necessity of developing the construction process by establishing specialized training centres under its supervision to prevent negligence and default.
Although the study attempted a broad extrapolation of the contemporary historical sources of or near the Umayyad state, there were three groups of sources that added a lot of usefulness to the study. These are papyrus papers first, with their singular reference to navigational problems, maritime administrative regulations and contemporary financial procedures for the construction of the fleet. In addition, the legal documents and their importance in the possibility of accessing and identifying contracts for the construction of ships in order to clarify the extent of the development of the shipping industry. Hence, literary studies, especially poetry books, show their importance in identifying the tasks and types of ships used in the Umayyad naval fleet.
