تسعى هذه الورقة النقدية إلى الوقوف على الأعمال الأدبية التي اتخذت من الرحلة الخيالية إلى العالم الأخر- الذي يغلب عليه أن يكون عالما للموتى- موضوعا لها، بوصفها معادلا موضوعيا لحالة الحنق والضيق التي يعيشها الكاتب ومجتمعه، ومن ثم كانت غاية هذه الرحالات الخيالية، هي التنفيس عما يدور بداخلهم من صراع، سببه تخلف مجتمعاتهم وتدهورها، فاحب هؤلاء الكتاب أن يكونوا من رواد الإصلاح ما استطاعوا عبر ما يتقنونه من فنون، فعرضوا في قصصهم هذه كل ما كانوا يريدون قولهم من أمور، سبق أن منعتهم من قولها السلطة المتحكمة (بكل أشكالها) في مجتمعاتهم، سواء أكانت سياسية أم دينية أم اجتماعية، فاخترنا نماذج من هذه القصص التي تعج بها آداب العالم المختلفة، ومنها؛ رحلة (ديونيزوس) اله الخمر اليوناني إلى عالم الأموات، التي وردت في مسرحية (الضفادع) للكاتب المسرحي اليوناني (ارستوفانيس)، ورحلة رجل دين زرادشتي فارسي اسمه (ارداويراف) إلى عالم الأموات، وهي واردة في قصة (ارداويراف نامه) وهي عمل قصصي فارسي قديم، كما اخترنا قصة (التوابع والزوابع) لابن شهيد الأندلسي، وكذلك قصة رحلة (ابن القارح) بطل أبي العلاء المعري في (رسالة الغفران)، كما اخترنا قصة (الكوميديا الإلهية) لدانتي، وكذلك قصة محمد بن إبراهيم المويلحي الموسومة (حديث عيسى بن هشام)، فضلا عن قصة الكاتب الفيلسوف الباكستاني المسلم المتصوف (محمد إقبال) الموسومة (جاويد نامة).
