بُحثت ظاهرة الغلو بطريقة لم تسبر أغوارها, ولم تصل إلى النتيجة المرجوة من البحث, فانطبعت التصورات بالاتجاهات التي بحثتها, فلم تنظر في الأزمة الحقيقية للغلو, ولا في المراحل التاريخية التي مرت بها هذه الظاهرة, ولم توضع بين أيدي أصحاب الشأن من العلماء؛ لذا جاء هذا البحث يضع لبنة جادة على الطريق الصحيح لمعالجة هذا البلاء, والسير بالمجتمع على هدى المنهج الصحيح الذي يرتضيه الله, باتباع منهج رسوله والأئمة الكرام في وضع الدواء الناجع لهذه الظاهرة, فالغلو: مجاوزة القدر في كل شيء, وفي المعنى الشرعي هو: مجاوزة الحد الشرعي, لما يجوز من المباح المأذون به, أو الضرورات تشدداً, وهو تفسير النصوص الشرعية تفسيراً يخرجها عن السمة العامة للشريعة ومقاصدها الكلية, القائمة على السماحة والاعتدال, والغلو يكون في الاعتقاد, الذي هو من أخطر أنواعه؛ لأن المغالي فيه قد يتجاوز الحد في نظرته, فيكفر الأفراد, والأمة, وقد يكون الغلو في الأعمال, وهو أهون مما سبقه, إن للغلو خصائص تميز أزمته الآزمة, جعلته يخرج عن النهج الصحيح, فهو ينبع من فهم خاطئ لكتاب الله, فلا ينضبط أصحابه بقواعد التفسير الصحيح, فوصلوا إلى تكفير المجتمع, ومناصبة أفراد الأمة العداء.
