520 |a Determination of TSH in serum is helpful in diagnosis and follow up the course of various thyroid states. Chemlumenescence immunoassay (CLIA) can be regarded very sensitive method for determination of lower serum TSH concentration. TSH-CLIA is introduced for the quantitative determination of TSH in vitro by sandwich technique, which has several advantages over other methods. Our objective was to compare a sensitive third generation TSH-CLIA assay with fourth generation capable to optimize the amount of monoclonal antibodies on magnetic beads that would help economies of miniaturisation, and affordable by laboratories with low to modest budgets. Design of modern commercial instruments with automated capacity to carry out array of heterogeneous immunoassays, further increased sensitivity opening the window of opportunity to cement immunoassay techniques as core clinical laboratory tests. At present, immunoassays play a pivotal role in majority of clinical laboratory analysis for hormones, proteins, nucleic acids and drugs. There is hope that future assays will be developed with even greater sensitivity leading to discovery of new biomarkers in diagnosis of diseases.
