المستخلص: The characteristics of a MOSFET detector (the MOSkin) have been investigated under a 6 MV x-ray beam. The electrical characteristics, response with dose, temperature effect, water proofing, and Off-axis measurements of the profile have been performed. It is shown that the MOSkin is suitable for External Beam Radiotherapy Quality Assurance (EBRT QA). The MOSkin has a linear response with sensitivity of 2.6mV/cGy up to 15Gy. It is stable over wide a temperature range (100C-700C) if operated at the thermostable current ~47μA. It is water proof which makes it a useful tool for beam profile measurements in a water tank. Beam Profile off axis ratio (OAR) measurements in a solid water phantom at dmax showed some flatness fluctuations for an open field, with flatter profiles at deeper points (10cm) due to the optimised flattening filter design.
