اهتم النحاة العرب الأقدمون بالحرف إذ جعلوه قسيما كاملا للاسم والفعل، وذلك لما رأوا له من قيمة كبيرة، كما درسوا دور هذا الحرف في ربط العناصر اللغوية بعضها ببعض، وأدرجوا ذلك تحت مصطلح (التعليق) الذي أطلقه عبد القاهر الجرجاني، وقسموا الحروف إلى عاملة وغير عاملة انطلاقا من فكرة الاختصاص بالدخول على العنصر اللغوي الذي تدخل عليه، تعمل إذا كان واحداً وتعطل إذا تعدد، كما ذهبوا بعيد في استقراء معاني الحرف انطلاقا من ميزة الاقتراض اللغوي؛ ويأتي هذا العمل ليثمن جهد الأولين ليربط هذا التراث الكبير بجهود علماء لسانيات النص، فيتناول دور الحروف في تحقيق الاتساق النصي من خلال قراءة جديدة لفاعلية الحرف وقدرته على الربط بين العناصر اللغوية، ونظرا لكثرة عدد الحروف في العربية وصعوبة تناولها جميعا فإننا نتناول بعضاً منها وعليها يكون القياس.
The ancient Arabs grammarians interested on the study of the “prepositions”, so they made it at the same category as the “Noun” and “Verb”, because of its great value. As well, they studied the role of “prepositions” in linking the lingual elements with each other, and they categorized that under the term “INTERLINKED” named by Abdul Kaher EL Jurjani . Also they divided the prepositions into “ ACTIVE” and “INACTIVE” from the idea of “specialty” by entering from the lingual elements that it uses, being active if it is alone, and inactive if it is multiple, as they went far in extrapolating the meanings of the prepositions from “borrowing language” feature , all this work comes to appreciate the efforts the first grammarians to link this great heritage with the efforts of “textual linguists”, in dealing with the role of prepositions in making the” textual cohesion” through a new reading of the effectiveness of the prepositions and its ability in linking between the lingual elements, and due to the large number of “prepositions” and their difficulty in Arabic Language , here we study some of them.
