إن الموضوع الرئيس لهذا البحث يتناول استعراض العناصر التيبوغرافية، وبيان خصائصها الفنية ودورها في الإخراج الصحفي، وذلك لما لهذه العناصر من أهمية صحفية، حيث تعتبر المكونات الأساسية التي يستند عليها المخرج الصحفي في توزيع المضامين الصحفية المراد نشرها بالصحف، وبالتالي إظهار المطبوعة الصحفية بالشكل الملائم لسياستها التحريرية، والمميز عن غيرها من الإصدارات الصحفية الأخرى. ونظرا لأهمية فئة العناصر الأولى التي تضم العناصر العامة التي تشترك في بناء الصفحات العامة في كل الصحف وهي: حروف الطباعة والجداول والفواصل والإطارات ودورها المتميز في الإخراج الصحفي. فإن الباحث يسلط عليها الضوء دون غيرها في هذا البحث بطريقة مفصلة بهدف الوقوف على هذه الأهمية. وإمكانية تناول بقية العناصر التي أشرنا إليها في دراسة أخرى مستقلة. ويتم تناول ذلك من خلال مبحثين، حيث يركز الباحث في أولهما على الحرف المطبعي، فيما يبين في المبحث الثاني الفواصل والجداول والإطارات. وقبلهما أوضح مفهوم هذه العناصر. وتتحدد مشكلة هذا البحث بالإجابة عن تساؤله الأساسي التالي: ما مفهوم العناصر التيبوغرافية وخصائصها ودورها في الإخراج الصحفي؟ وتكمن أهمية هذا البحث في تحديد العناصر التيبوغرافية وبيان خصائصها ودورها في عملية الإخراج الصحفي وكيفية الاستفادة منها فنيا في بناء صفحات المطبوعات الصحفية، وذلك من خلال استعراض آراء بعض المتخصصين ودراساتهم في هذا المجال. ويعد هذا البحث من البحوث النظرية المكتبية التي يعتمد فيها الباحث على المصادر والمراجع والدراسات المتخصصة في جمع المعلومات لدراسة المشكلة البحثية لغرض فهمها وتسيرها وبالتالي الوصول إلى نتائج. وتوصل البحث إلى عدة نتائج أهمها: -تلعب العناصر التيبوغرافية دورا أساسيا في إحداث التوازن في الصفحة الواحدة والصفحات الأخرى. -تنحصر أهمية العناصر التيبوغرافية المساعدة وهي (الفواصل والجداول والإطارات) في الفصل بين المواد التحريرية بعضها عن بعض، وبطريقة واضحة تسهل من خلالها عملية القراءة، كما تبعد التشابك والتلاحم بين الأخبار والموضوعات التحريرية المختلفة.
