When the war breaks out, it know no boundaries, but it affects innocent people who have nothing to do with it. This is what happened in Libya during World War II, when too many innocent civilians suffered a great deal of its destruction. As former Italian colony, Libya became the battlefield for the fighting force of the Allied and the Axes. This cause the death of thousands of civilians, and inflected massive destruction of facilities, homes, roads, ports and other important facilities in the areas where the fighting took place. In addition, the war left behind large amount of mines in Cyrenaica that caused the death of many Libyans after the war. This subject has been chosen for research, because of the current situation in Libya, which reminds us with the war years and its devastating impact the current fighting in the country between the army and the militant groups may cause more damage and destruction which may exceed that of the second World War. The aim of this study is to try to clarify and indicate that the war has negative impact on the two fighting opponent, no matter who wins. The war leaves behind only destruction and suffering. To explain and clarify this topic I will follow an analytical approach based on the selection of information from sources and analyze them scientifically in order to reach sound and acceptable interpretation. Among the concluding remarks which I have been able to draw form this study are: 1. World War II caused great losses in Libya both in materials and human lives, especially in Cyrenaica where the focus of battels and military operations took place. 2. Almost all public service palces were closed, including health care centers, sanitation and schools. 3. The war years witnessed less economic activity and the people suffered from shortages in food supplies and faced real poverty. Recommendations: No matter what the positive results of the war might be, the two sides of the conflict are losers. I believe, therefore, it is better for the two parties to solve their problem through constructive talks and negotiation instead of using arms. The catastrophic disaster of war requires more intensive research and studies, which in turn may help people to become aware of the negative aspect of the war.
