المستخلص: The article has taken the initiative to illustrate the evolution of women's sports in Tunisia, under the protectorate, as analyzer of social and cultural change. The conscience of the time developed a hostility to the feminine gender and declares the prohibition of some modem sports to women for serious reasons. But the real reasons for these prohibitions are rooted, in fact, in conservative mores that require that a woman does not live. However, the interest in the creation of a feminine association by an elite of Tunisian young sports women, goes back to the mid 1940 s along with the creation of the scout companies relating to Muslim girls and a female team of basketball of the Zeitouna- Sports which strongly surprised the public and especially the conservative clerics. The team was the pride of a few young Zeitounians and all free Tunisians because the event was the first in the Arab- Muslim world

Cette étude porte sur le début du sport féminin en Tunisie sous le protectorat français ; ce phénomène est perçu comme un marqueur des mutations sociales et culturelles. Sont analysés les différents obstacles à la pratique des sports par les jeunes filles tunisiennes, alors que les activités scoutes leurs sont tolérées. La création d’une section féminine au sein de l’association La Zitouna Sports en décembre 1946, marque selon l’auteur, l’histoire les sports féminins en Tunisie ; il indique également le contexte dans lequel a été créée cette section : multiplication des associations fran¬çaises ayant des sections féminines ; développement relatif de l’enseigne¬ment ; naissance d’un courant moderne autour de la Zeitouna, etc
