The topic of the Maghrebean war prisoners was not-called enough in mind in the French Records. The correspondences and reports related to that were very instructive. The interest turned mainly to the behavior and attitude of the Maghrebean war prisoners towards the Turkish and German propaganda. The economic undertaking of the captivity, its legal aspect, the ef¬fects of the captivity on those prisoners, the image of prisoners in Maghre-bean society and so on, were most of time neglected. They arouse many questions and offer us a large field of research. Their understanding needs obviously new filing sources Le thème des prisonniers de guerre de la Grande Guerre est encore peu étudié par les historiens des pays du Maghreb. La rareté des sources disponibles, françaises notamment, et le peu de traces écrites laissées par ces prisonniers expliquent en partie cette situation. Nous nous proposons d’étudier ces prisonniers à travers leurs lieux de captivité, leur vie dans les camps et surtout les enjeux politiques et militaires entre les puissances belligérantes. L’intérêt porté à la propagande allemande et ottomane serait l’aspect le plus frappant qui ressort des archives françaises (notamment les archives du ministère français des Affaires étrangères et celles de l’Armée) sur lesquelles nous basons. |
