المستخلص: Drop hydraulic structures are constructed wherever the streambed has a vertical drop. To protect the streambed against scour, resulted due to the falling flow over the drop, the floor structure must extends to line the downstream bed. In such a case, the floor structure has two parts; (i) the upper part, which located upstream the drop, and (ii) the lower one, which located downstream the drop. Existence of the vertical drop will change the boundary conditions of the seepage field below the structure. This will affect the characteristics of seepage expressed by the uplift pressures (P) the exit gradient (Ie), and the quantity of seepage discharge (q). In the current study, the effect of drop height and location, on the seepage characteristics, was analysed. For this purpose, in addition to end sheet pile, various drop heights and locations were tested. Potential values at the extreme parts, defining the floor and drop, were found, in addition to both exit gradient and seepage discharge. Analysis of seepage beneath drop hydraulic structure, in the present study, was conducted using the Drag Coefficient Method, developed by Chugaev [9]. Results are presented in dimensionless charts. The results showed that the drop height and location has a considerable effect on seepage characteristics.
