المستخلص: تعد عملية البحث والخوض في الأفكار السياسية من الأمور المتشعبة في علم التاريخ، أن دراسة وفهم نشوء هذه الأفكار وتطورها صعبة بمكان تجعل من الباحث والقارئ لا يعي تماما في مواقف عدة الظروف الكاملة والصحيحة التي أدت إلى ظهور الأفكار، تم انتشارها في العالم، ومن هذه الأفكار الفكر القومي الذي صار يتزعم التيارات السياسية والفكرية الأخرى في العالم منذ ما يقارب القرنين، وما تزال تؤدي دورا مؤثرا على مستوى العلاقات الدولية حتى الآن. عند البحث في أصول هذه الفكرة ومناقشتها مع ذوي الاختصاص تتبادر إلى الواجهة أسئلة عدة لكل باحث له فيها نظرة خاصة، ومن أبرز تلك الأسئلة التي ما يزال المختصون في الفكر القومي يتداولونها هي: متى ظهر الفكر القومي؟ وإذا ما كان الفكر القومي حديث النشأة فهل يعني هذا أنه لم يكن موجودا قبل العصر الحديث أو كان ضمن إطار فكري آخر؟ ثم ما الظروف التي أدت إلى ظهور هذه الفكر في العصر الحديث؟ وما العوامل التي ساعدت على انتشارها في القارة الأوربية باعتبارها المنبع الأول والأساس لهذه الفكرة؟ وهل وجدة الفكرة القومية بوصفها نظرية موطئ قدم لها في أوربا إبان العصر الحديث؟ أسئلة أخرى عديدة تذكر في هذا المقام، ويحاول هذا البحث الإجابة عنها باختصار متتبعا فقط نشوء الفكرة القومية الأوربية الحديثة وتطورها بعيدا عن الأحداث والوقائع التاريخية التي رافقتها.

The process of research and deepness in the political thinking is considered one of the difficult and detailed matters in the history science. Study and comprehension of origination of these idea and their development is uneasy in a way not to make the researcher and reader completely realize in several attitudes the total circumstances that led to appearance of these ideas and then their diffusion in the world. Among these ideas or ideas, is the national idea which started to lead the other political and intellectual tides in the word for the two centuries, still would play an influential role at the level of the international relationships so far. Upon researching about the roots of this idea and discussing it along with the specialists would arouse a number of questions in which each research has a certain vision. One of those questions which was an object of a discussion in that when did the national idea come into existence? In case that the national idea would be newly originated. So would not it be found pre-new age or would it be within the scope of another intellectual frame? Then what are the circumstances which led to appearance of this idea in the modern age? What are the factors that helped spread this idea in the European century due to considering it the first and basic source of this idea? Did the national idea as a theory a foothold for itself in Europe in the new age? Several other question mentioned in this respect, the research tries to answer them briefly tracing only the origination and development of the new European national idea away from the history events and incidents that followed.
