By the name of God, Most Gracious Most Merciful is he beginning of the Holy Quran and any speech and Muslims always say it before doing anything. It is also written on the Islamic monuments. Islamic art is the unique of the old science arts where the oldest cultures appeared and the main various arts were discovered. Arabic Islamic arts are part of the most comprehensive Islamic vision which has a distinguished role. Muslims concerned about writing and fine penmanship more than drawing. Islam also took care of penmanship because of its strong relationship with religion. Sufis related the Arabic letters with secrets that bring good and blessing. Such belief encouraged Muslim artists to ornament everything they made and built with Koranic verses. Penmanship has become a common element in all Islamic art branches as it is seen on ceramics, glasses, textiles and walls of mosques and palaces. The research indicates that there is a comparative study about different kinds of Islamic handwritings used for writing “ By the name of God , Most Gracious Most Merciful” on Islamic monuments through all Islamic ages whether Fatimid, Ayyubid, Mamluk or Ottoman. |
