|f No one can deny the great role played by our great thinker, Dr. Zaki Najib Mahmoud, in contemporary Arab culture, whether it was in terms of study, analysis or authorship. Hence, the importance arises to become familiar with the characteristics of contemporary Arab thought through this great pioneer. Especially since we acquire familiarity of them through a thinker who lived the issues of this thought and presented us with his vision concerning that, which we must stop at to study and analyze so that we can get to know the true reality of our thinking and where are we heading? As our professor Dr. Atef Al-Iraqi says, “The leading and vital role played by our great professor Zaki Najib Mahmoud is in no way less than any role played by the great thinkers of our Arab nation, old and modern. And that any word or phrase said by Zaki Najib Mahmoud will remain engraved in the mind and conscience of the peoples of the whole world, in the east and west. If Zaki Najib Mahmoud uttered it was uttered by the one who is wise, and if he writes, his writings are considered to be an expression of the beacon of thought, of the eternal flame, the flame of mind, which is considered to be of the greatest matters apportioned among human beings”.\nDr. Atef Al-Iraqi says, “For my part, I firmly believe that Dr. Zaki Najib Mahmoud is now the leader of the movement of rational enlightenment in our contemporary Arab world, from its East to its West. He enriched our Arab culture with unlimited richness and defended science, civilization, reason and enlightenment. If he wrote, his writings reveal a firm belief on his part in the importance of enlightened rational awakening. And if he spoke, in his words was the depth of wisdom and the sublime view. He is a giant thinker of a rare type of existence and a cultural pyramid of which we are all proud and we have pride in him among the thinkers of the nations of the whole world, east and west. He embarked in many intellectual battles, which are of great significance, and he always triumphed for reason and science, and relentlessly fought the country's armies, darkness, closed mindedness and tradition. And why not? When his writings are an expression of the greatness of thought; of the eternal flame. The flame of the mind. He is the rebirth, not an imitator. He walked over the rocks and thorns and paved the way for us. |a لا يستطيع أحد أن ينكر الدور العظيم الذي قدمه مفكرنا الكبير الدكتور زكى نجيب محمود في الثقافة العربية المعاصرة سواء كانت دراسة او تحليلاً أو تأليفاً ومن هنا تبدو أهمية أن نتعرف على خصائص الفكر العربي المعاصر من خلال هذا الرائد العظيم وخاصة أننا نتعرف عليها من خلال مفكر عاش قضايا هذا الفكر وقدم لنا رؤيته في ذلك والتي لا بد وأن نتوقف عندها بالدراسة والتحليل حتى نتعرف على حقيقة فكرنا وإلى أين نحن نسير؟ وكما يقول أستاذنا الدكتور عاطف العراقي (أن الدور الرائد والحيوي الذي أداه أستاذنا الكبير زكى نجيب محمود لا يقل أي حال من الأحوال عن أي دور قام بأدائه أعظم المفكرين العمالقة في أمتنا العربية قديماً وحديثاً. وأن أي كلمة أو عبارة يقول بها زكى نجيب محمود ستظل محفورة في عقل ووجدان شعوب العالم أجمعه شرقاً وغرباً فإذا نطق زكى نجيب محمود فقد نطق الحكيم، وإذا كتب فإن كتاباته تعد تعبيراً عن منارة الفكر، عن الشعلة الخالدة شعلة العقل الذي يعد أعظم الأشياء قسمة بين البشر.\nيقول الدكتور عاطف العراقي ((أعتقد من جانبي اعتقاداً راسخاً أن الدكتور زكى نجيب محمود يعد الأن رائد حركة التنوير العقلي في عالمنا العربي المعاصر من مشرقه إلى مغربه. لقد أثرى ثقافتنا العربية ثراء بغير حدود ودافع عن العلم والحضارة والعقل والتنوير إنه إذا كتب فإن كتاباته تكشف عن إيمان راسخ من جانبه بأهمية الصحوة العقلية التنويرية. وإذا تكلم ففي كلماته عمق الحكمة وسمو النظرة إنه مفكر عملاق من طراز نادر الوجود وهرم ثقافي نفخر به جميعاً ونتباهى به بين مفكري أمم العالم كله شرقه وغربه، لقد خاض العديد من المعارك الفكرية والتي تعد على درجة كبيرة من الأهمية وانتصر دوماً للعقل والعلم وحارب دون هوادة جيوش البلاد والظلام والانغلاق والتقليد، ولم لا؟ وكتاباته تعد تعبيراً عن عظمة الفكر؛ عن الشعلة الخالدة. شعلة العقل. إنه المجدد وليس المقلد. لقد سار فوق الصخور والأشواك ومهد لنا الطريق. إن مفكرنا يعد كالبوصلة التي تحدد الاتجاه وتهدى إلى الطريق السليم الطريق الذهبي، طريق العقل والتنوير))
