اشتمل البحث على تعريف الأسر في اللغة والاصطلاح وهو الحبس والإمساك والمأخوذ في الحرب، ويطلق على المرأة والعبد، وبيان علاقة الأسر في الاستعمال القرآني، والألفاظ ذات الصلة به. وتناول البحث أحكام الأسير في القرآن الكريم في مرحلتي: ضعف المسلمين، وقوتهم وتمكينهم، ونماذج من السنة النبوية في تطبيقها. كما أوضح البحث أشكال من تعامل المسلمين مع الأسرى في القرآن الكريم: كالإطعام، والكساء واللباس، والإحسان لأسرى المشركين ودعوتهم إلى الله. وبيان بعض حقوق الأسرى على الأمة وأهمها الدفاع عن الأسرى، والمشاركة في الفعاليات المتعلقة بهم والمحاماة عنهم، وكفالتهم وأسرهم، وإنشاء مؤسسات خيرية خاصة بهم، والعمل على تحرير من أسر العدو، والدعاء لهم. وتناول البحث صور تحرير الأسرى في القرآن والتي أهمها: تحرير الأسرى بالجهاد في سبيل الله، وأسر جنود الأعداء، فداء الأسرى بالمال أو بالمبادلة، وبيان واجب أهل الكتاب تجاه أسراهم في القرآن الكريم.
The research contained the denotation and the connotation of the term capture, as it is confinement, constipation, and the taken in the war. This term is used for women and slave. The research also studies the relationship of capture in the use of the Qur'an, and studies the related words to it. The research also tackled the regulations of the prisoner in the Holy Quran in both phases i.e. the stages of Muslims’ weakness and strength, as it provided models of applying such regulations from the Sunnah. In this regards, this research displayed stories of Muslims dealing with the prisoners in the Quran. For example, feeding, clothing and dressing, and the good treatment with prisoners of the infidels and inviting them to Islam. It also showed some of the rights of prisoners, as the most important right is to defend the prisoners, besides participating in events related to them and their attorneys. Additionally, it figured out the prisoners’ right in sponsoring them and their families, besides establishing charitable foundations for them, and finally working on liberating the prisoners from the enemy, and pray for them. The research displayed stories of liberating prisoners in the Quran, as it showed that the most important way of liberating the prisoners is by jihad for the sake of Allah, and capturing the enemy soldiers, the redemption of prisoners or exchange them for money. The study concluded the duty towards the captives in the Quran.
