Baghdad city considered one of the Islamic cities in Iraq, it represents an important architectural and religious civilization, dat's because it has tourism constituent by the Imams Musa al-Kadhim and Mohammed al-Jawad (peace be upon them), in addition to the shrines of saints and the righteous, which makes the process of the tourist influx continues increasing as the best places to get closer to God, and the tourism sector has suffered in Iraq and numerous obstacles problems highlighted by government policies and what he suffered Iraq wars and the destruction of severe affected most tourist places, and staying away and out of the circle of economic, political and cultural relations wif the rest of the world, The tourism section in Iraq has suffered from many problems and barriers which highlighted by government policies and what happened to Iraq like wars and severe destruction reached to the most tourist places In additional staying away and becomes out of the circle of economic, political and cultural relations wif the rest of the world, dat leads to a negative reflection on this vital section, there for Iraq needs a serious comprehensive development as this section has an ingredients and capabilities of tourist and archaeological sites and religious variety by directing investments to it, which will occupy a privileged position in the provision of a large portion of the proceeds to the country. So the development of tourism in the city of Baghdad at the present time represent one of a comprehensive economic and social development goals because of its ability to improve the payments balance and provision job opportunities and create income-generating opportunities, as well as contribution to improve the style and pattern of social life for all members of society.
تعد مدينة بغداد من المُدن الإسلامية في العراق، فهي تمثل حاضرة عمرانية ودينية مهمة، نظراً لما تمتلكهُ من مقومات سياحية مُتمثلة بمرقدي الإمامين موسى الكاظم ومحمد الجواد (عليهما السلام)، فضلاً عن مراقد الأولياء والصالحين، مما جعل عملية توافد السياح في زيادة مستمرة كونها من أفضل الأماكن للتقرب إلي الله تعالى، وقد عانى القطاع السياحي في العراق من مشاكل ومعوقات عديدة أبرزها السياسات الحكومية وما تعرض له العراق من حروب ودمار شديدين طالت معظم الأماكن السياحية، وابتعاده وخروجه من دائرة العلاقات الاقتصادية والسياسية والثقافية مع باقي دول العالم، الأمر الذي انعكس سلباً على هذا القطاع الحيوي، لذلك فهو بحاجه ماسة إلي تنمية شاملة لما يتملكهُ هذا القطاع من مقومات وإمكانيات سياحية ومواقع أثرية ودينية متنوعة من خلال توجيه الاستثمارات إليه، والذي سيحتل موقعاً متميزا في توفير جزء كبير من عائدات للبلاد. لهذا تُعد التنمية السياحية في مدينة بغداد في الوقت الحاضر أحد أهداف التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية الشاملة لما لها من قدرة على تحسين ميزان المدفوعات وتوفير فرص عمل وخلق فرص مُدرة للدخل، فضلاً عن المساهمة في تحسين أسلوب ونمط الحياة الاجتماعية لجميع أفراد المجتمع.
