Some reasons for the battle of Wadi al-Magazin. This article examines the logical reasons behind one of the most important battles of the 16th century, namely the Battle of Wadi al Magazin. This major battle was fought near the town of Ksar-el-Kebir between the Moroccans and their allies the Ottomans and the King of Portugal Don San Sebastian and his allies. The article accounts for the said battle in terms of the constraints of ancient geography and the traditional conflict between the peoples and the countries of the Mediterranean, or what F. Braudel calls "longue durée" (long-term). The article also depicts the character of the Sultan of Morocco, (Abd al-Malik Assa'di, and his outstanding political and military formation, and shows how he greatly benefited from international conditions in reconstructing his country on strong and modern bases, and his leading role in the victory of the Moors in the battle (Mohamed Abdelouahid El Asri)
