This paper is about demographic changes in a new city in southern Morocco, known as the big Agadir. The latter has recently undergone a strong urbanization, which resulted in a quick and high increase of the number of urban dwellers, following rapid growth during the last five decades. Therefore, a significant population pressure has manifested itself in this city, though in varying degrees. Furthermore, some changes have affected the demographic behavior of the population, particularly with regard to fertility that continues to decline, although it is still relatively sustained. This decline is due to the direct effects of modernity on the behavior of the population, and specifically on the life conditions of women such as delayed marriage, extending schooling, participation in working life and the expansion of the use of antiseptics for the sake of family planning. This has implications not only on the pace of evolution, but also on the age structure of urban residents.
