المستخلص: The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using WebQuests on first year secondary school English reading and writing skills. For answering the questions of the study, the researcher adopted the experimental approach. The sample of the study consisted of (30) students as an experimental group. The WebQuest strategy was used in teaching the experimental group in the second term of the school year 2013-2014. An achievement reading and writing skills test of two sections with (11) items was designed and validated to be used as a pre and post test. A selection questionnaire was used to select the students who can work on computer, and who have an internet access. In addition, a scale questionnaire to measure the students’ attitudes and satisfaction toward the WebQuest in acquiring English reading and writing skills was used. An activity program to develop reading and writing skills was prepared and a website with the six components of the WebQuest was designed and the activities of reading and writing skills were uploaded. The data of the study were analyzed using t-test for independent sample. The results indicated that there were statistically significant differences between the pre and post reading and writing skills test in favor of the post test due to the WebQuest program. The effect size indicated a large effect of the WebQuest program on improving the students’ reading and writing skills. The results of the questionnaire indicated an overall positive attitude towards the WebQuest.
