كان لشخصية الملك عبد العزيز أثرها الواضح في اختيار رجاله وقادته، فقد تمتع ببعد نظره، إضافة إلى حكمته وحنكته السياسية، وبذلك تمكن من وضع الرجل المناسب في المكان المناسب، كل ذلك يضاف إلى تدينه والتزامه بالشريعة الإسلامية عقيدة وعملا، وعلى هذا الأساس كان دائم التواصل مع رجاله ويحثهم على ذلك، كما كان يوصيهم بحسن معاملة الرعية، وقد طبق ذلك بنفسه وأمر به رجاله، فحثهم على العدل واللين واللطف مع الناس، وأكد على ضرورة محاسبتهم لمن يتجاوز من رجالهم مع الرعية. واهتم أيضا بتوجيه رجاله ومتابعتهم في مسألة الزكاة، وبين لهم آلية استلامها، وحقوق الفقراء فيها، وجاء في رسائله أيضا متابعته الدقيقة لتحركات رجاله وقادته الحربية، مرسلا تعليماته إليهم، إضافة إلى كل ما يحتاجونه من مال ومؤن، وكان يعلن انتصارات رجاله في مجالسه، ويبعث بتفاصيل نجاحاتهم إلى القادة الآخرين، لإشراكهم في النجاح، ورفعا لمعنوياتهم. ومن ذلك أيضا اهتمامه بما يحتاجه رجاله من راحة، فقد كان يأذن لهم بأخذ الإجازات، إضافة إلى منحهم الثقة في اختيار أمراء النواحي التابعة لهم، كما برع في أسلوب الربط الإداري، وتجاوزه إلى توحيد قيادات القبائل وخاصة في أوقات الحروب. ومن رسائله أيضا ما كانت تحمل توجيهات وإرشادات دينية، فقد كان يذكرهم باستمرار بأن لا يركنوا إلى قوتهم، وإنما إلى الـلـه فالنصر من عنده سبحانه، كما لم تخل رسائله من حمد الـلـه والثناء عليه، وسؤاله إدامة نعمه، ورفع شأن الإسلام والمسلمين.
The character of king Abdulaziz had its clear impact on selection of his men and leaders as he had perspicacity in addition to wisdom and political statesmanship, and thus he could put the right man in the right position. Add to that his religiousness and his adherence to Islamic Sharia in terms of creed and deed. Based on that, he permanently communicated with his men and was urging them to do that. He also commanded them to deal well with the people applying that by himself and ordered his men to do it. He ordered them with justice, kindness and gentleness with people emphasizing the necessity of accountability of their men if they encroached upon the people. He also directed his men and followed them in the matter of Zakat clarifying to them the mechanism of collecting it and the rights of poor people. He also wrote in his correspondences about his accurate tracking of movements of his men and his warlords sending his instructions to them in addition to all what they needed of money and supplies. He was declaring victories of his men in his meetings and sent the details of their successes to other leaders in order to engage them in the success and to raise their morale. He also pay attention to what his men needed of rest, so he permitted them to go on vacations in addition to giving them confidence to select the Amirs of their areas. He also excelled in the administrative connection and went beyond it to unite the leaders of the tribes specially in wartimes. Some of his correspondences also contained religious directions and instructions when he always reminded them not to incline to their powers and forces, but to Allah because there is no victory except from Allah. Also, none of his correspondence was without praising Allah and invoking Him to perpetuate His blessings and graces on them and to exalt the Islam and Muslims.
