لا شك أن ضم الملك عبد العزيز للأحساء قد أثر في ميزان القوى في الخليج العربي، حيث دخلت الدولة السعودية الناشئة في هذا الميزان مؤثرة أو متأثرة. ولما كانت بريطانيا أهم المتأثرين من هذا الحدث؛ فإن سبر رد فعلها يعد من ضرورات دراسة مثل هذا الموضوع، الذي سيظهر من خلاله أن موقف بريطانيا من ضم الملك عبد العزيز للأحساء مر بثلاث مراحل هي: المرحلة الأولى: تتمثل في محاولات الملك عبد العزيز إقامة علاقات مع بريطانيا قبل ضمه للأحساء. المرحلة الثانية: وتبرز فيها الاتصالات الودية المتبادلة بين الملك عبد العزيز وبريطانيا أثناء ضم الملك عبد العزيز للأحساء. المرحلة الثالثة: وتظهر فيها قيام العلاقات السياسية الرسمية بين الملك عبد العزيز وبين بريطانيا، وذلك بعد ضمه للأحساء واندلاع الحرب العالمية الأولى ودخول الدولة العثمانية الحرب إلى جانب دول التحالف (ألمانيا والنمسا). وستتم دراسة هذا الموضوع من خلال التعرف على موقف بريطانيا من الملك عبد العزيز قبيل ضمه للأحساء، وعلى موقفها منه يعد ضمه للأحساء، وأخيراً أثر ضمه للأحساء وقيام الحرب العالمية الأولى في تحول موقف بريطانيا إلى علاقات دبلوماسية رسمية مع الملك عبد العزيز؟
There is no doubt that the seize of Al-Ahsaby King Abdul Aziz has affected the balance of power in the Arabic Gulf, as the emerging Saudi Sate has been influential or influenced when it became part of that balance. Britain was the most affected country by this result, thus, it is essential to examine its reaction. The Britain's stance on King Abdul-Aziz annexation of Al-Ahsahas three different stages, which will be Highlighted in this paper. The first stage; is when King Abdul Aziz attempts to establish a good relation with Britain before the annexation of Al-Ahsa The second stage; will highlight the mutual friendly contacts between King Abdul Aziz and Britain during the annexation of Al-Ahsa. The third stage; is to show the established official political relations between King Abdul Aziz and Britain after the annexation of Al-Ahsa and after the outbreak of the World War I, when the Ottoman Empire sided with the Central Power (Germany and Austria). This paper shall study the Britain’s stance towards King Abdul Aziz before the annexation of Al- Ahsa. It will then delve to the Britain’s position on the King after the annexation of Al-Ahsa. At the end, the paper intend toillustrate the impact of the King’s annexation of Al-Ahsa and outbreak of the First World War on the two countries relation, which resulted in establishing formal diplomatic relations between Britain and the Saudi State.
