هدفت الدراسة الى التعرف علي أثر الاعتماد على المصادر الإسلامية الأولى للسيرة النبوية. وتطور منهجيات البحث العلمي الغربي على صورة نبي الإسلام في أدبيات المستشرقين المعاصرين. واشتملت الدراسة على سبعة مباحث. وتناول المبحث الأول مصادر السيرة النبوية عند المستشرقين فيما بين النصف الأول للقرن التاسع عشر حتى بداية العام 1890. واهتم المبحث الثاني ببدايات نقد مصادر السيرة في الأدبيات الغربية. أما المبحث الثالث تطرق الى مرحلة ما بعد جولدتسيهر والإشكال في الاعتماد على المصادر الإسلامية. كما ناقش المبحث الرابع نظرية يوسف شاخت حول أصل أحاديث الأحكام. بينما سلط المبحث الخامس الضوء على مصادر السيرة النبوية في النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين. والتطورات المعاصرة في منهجيات البحث العلمي الغربي وأثرها على دراسات السيرة النبوية في المبحث السادس. وكذلك عرض المبحث السابع الموقف الحالي للبحث الغربي تجاه مصادر السيرة. وخلصت الدراسة الى أن الأبحاث الغربية المعاصرة ركزت على مسألة استحالة الاعتماد على المصادر الإسلامية في كتابة السيرة النبوية في الغرب أو على استحالة رسم صورة صادقة للنبي محمد (ص) لان هناك المئات من الأسئلة التي لا تزال تحتاج لإجابة ناجعة بشأن السيرة النبوية ولا سيما بعدما تركت كتابات جولدتسيهر وشاخت أثرا يصعب محوه من العقلية الغربية المعاصرة. كُتب هذا المستخلص من قِبل دار المنظومة 2018
The study aimed to identify the impact of reliance on the first Islamic sources of the Prophet's biography and the evolution of methodologies of Western scientific research on the image of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the literature of the modern orientalists. The study included seven topics. The first topic dealt with sources of the Prophetic biography of the Orientalists between the first half of the nineteenth century until the beginning of the year 1890. The second topic concerned with the beginnings of sources criticism involving the Prophetic biography of the Western literatures. The third topic turned to the post- Goldziher period and the problem of depending on the Islamic sources. The fourth topic discussed the theory of Yusuf Shakht on the origin of the Hadiths of judgments. The fifth section highlighted the sources of the Prophet's biography in the second half of the twentieth century. The contemporary developments in the methodologies of the Western scientific research and its impact on the studies of the Prophet's biography were tackled in the sixth topic. The seventh topic presented as well the current position of the Western research towards the sources of the Prophetic biography. The study concluded that the contemporary Western research has focused on the issue of the impossibility of relying on the Islamic sources in writing the biography of the Prophet in the West, or the impossibility of portraying an honest image of the Prophet Muhammad, because there are hundreds of questions that still need an effective answer about the Prophet's biography, particularly after the writings of Goldziher and Shakht have left a profound impact on the contemporary Western mentality.
