|b Microcredit has become one of the most important tools used to fight poverty and to enhance families’ wellbeing. This research aims at testing the following hypothesis: microcredit is positively linked to women’s socio-economic wellbeing in Cairo; it uses primary source data and has a public policy orientation. The results confirmed what was previously reported in the literature, namely the high correlation between microcredit and children’s education, income and assets and disproved studies that found microcredit to improve health and harmony in the family.
