المستخلص: In its Amman headquarters, the MESC held a symposium on Jordan's Economy 2016/2017: Present and Future Scenarios. The 2016 reality of the Jordanian economy was explored according to different macro-economic indicators. Thorough analyzing the regional and international situation, objective scenarios were set for the status of the economy in 2017. The event was joined by a number of Jordanian experts. According to the participants, the last 5 years have been so difficult, witnessing a rise in the public debt and a drop in the GDP growth rates. If the current political and security instability in the region continues, along with the recession in the global economy, the national economy is likely to see more difficulties. Finally, as the participants did not find- specifically for 2017 - any positive changes which would improve the situation, a number of economic policies were proposed, such as: 1-Controlling spending in public institutions. 2-Reconsidering the employment policies in the public sector, and encouraging new graduates to go the private sector and boost their leadership skills. 3- Building a true partnership between the public and private sectors, so that the latter would be effectively engaged in minimizing the current economic crisis. 4- Stabilizing the economic legislation and government procedures which affect businessmen, so that the private sector would set stable, efficient recruitment plans. 5-Caring for small- and medium-scale projects and entrepreneurships, in terms of training and financing 6. Attempting to provide maximum fair opportunities, promoting the spirit of initiative and fighting corrupts.
